Cree Historical Teachings
A grounded exploration of Cree history, language, and worldview
This session weaves together Cree historical teachings, cultural protocols, and language-based learning.
Led by Elder Philip Nanimahoo and Janine Nanimahoo, it explores pre- and post-treaty history, kinship systems, land-based knowledge, and the lasting impacts of colonization, including Treaty 8 and residential schools.
Through storytelling, lived experience, and introductory nêhiyawêwin, participants gain a deeper understanding of Cree worldviews, governance, and relational responsibilities in a respectful, educational setting.
